Topical anesthetic drops numb the eyes, and most patients report they don’t “feel” much beyond a gentle pressure during the procedure (Similar to taking your index finger and gently pressing on your opposite forearm). For patients who are especially nervous, the surgeon may provide an oral sedative to soothe rattled nerves.

One question we get a lot from prospective Detroit LASIK patients is “What happens if I blink during LASIK?” That’s a great question, and the short answer is “You won’t.” Dr. Khambati will position a small tool under the eyelids, which holds the lids open and makes it physically impossible for you to blink.
