What Makes LASIK Extremely Safe?

Surgery can be intimidating for some, even a minor, outpatient procedure like SoftTouch LASIK or the ZEISS SMILE procedure. Laser eye surgery is surgery; as with any surgery, you want to ensure you understand the process, risks (however small they may be) and benefits.

Our talented team at Lake Lazer Eye Center takes all measures possible to ensure patients are completely informed and comfortable with their vision correction decision. There are several important ways we work with our patients to make the experience comfortable, positive and focused around achieving excellent results.

We arm you with knowledge.

We’ve had the honor of serving thousands of happy Detroit LASIK patients. While each patient has their own personal journey, we know one thing to be true across the board: knowledge is power. For most people, it’s fear of the unknown that creates anxiety – so we lift the veil off LASIK to allay fears. Before surgery day, Dr. Khambati will give you important information about your procedure, including what to expect the day of your procedure, how to remain comfortable before, during and after the treatment and what visual results you can expect.

We keep it clean.

One of the most important safety measures a surgeon can take is cleanliness. Before and after every procedure, your eye care team diligently cleans:

In addition to these infection-fighting measures, your team will also take extra precautions to mitigate infectious diseases such as seasonal flu and COVID-19. Our climate-controlled laser suite and carefully calibrated laser systems provide the ideal environment for patients to achieve their vision goals.

We make you comfortable.

LASIK is performed while the patient is awake, so we ensure the patient is comfortable before we proceed. That means letting the patient lie down in a comfortable position that allows them to relax and remain as still as possible.

Topical anesthetic drops numb the eyes, and most patients report they don’t “feel” much beyond a gentle pressure during the procedure (Similar to taking your index finger and gently pressing on your opposite forearm). For patients who are especially nervous, the surgeon may provide an oral sedative to soothe rattled nerves.

We eliminate the blinking risk.

One question we get a lot from prospective Detroit LASIK patients is “What happens if I blink during LASIK?” That’s a great question, and the short answer is “You won’t.” Dr. Khambati will position a small tool under the eyelids, which holds the lids open and makes it physically impossible for you to blink.

We keep our eyes on your eyes.

LASIK vision correction is an extremely precise procedure. It’s normal to wonder how the eye doctor can overcome those natural, involuntary movements of the eye to deliver such precision. We do this through sophisticated technology.

A high-tech, infrared pupil-tracking system is used to detect even the slightest eye movement and adjust the laser accordingly. This allows the surgeon to deliver extremely precise treatment that’s tailored to each patient’s unique eyes.

Overall, we go to great lengths to provide the ultimate patient experience for each person who reaches out to us about vision correction. To find out more, book your consultation with Dr. Khambati on our website, or by calling (586) 792-3891.

Lake Lazer Eye Center offers convenient and affordable payment plans for SoftTouch LASIK and the ZEISS SMILE procedure, and Dr. Khambati has helped thousands of Detroit LASIK patients and individuals from all over the world escape the restrictions of glasses and contacts. In the event that you’re not a candidate for vision correction, we’ll assist you with a contact lens evaluation or a selection of designer and specialty eyewear.
