- Motown Museum. At last check, this piece of Motor City history was scheduled to reopen January 31. It’s the place where musical magic was made under the creative genius of Berry Gordy Jr., who’s “Motown Sound” launched musical artists such as Smokey Robinson, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5 and so many more. 2648 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit.
- Motawi Tileworks. Nawal Motawi handcrafts art tile and tiles for industrial and commercial installations that must be seen to be appreciated. Her custom tile creations and murals grace spaces from the University of Michigan-Dearborn to the Ann Arbor District Library to Rob Fleming Park and beyond. See her work up close at her Ann Arbor shop (currently only two can enter at one time by appointment, and only for 30 minutes at a time).
