Chronos technology was developed by Topcon Healthcare – a leading global provider of medical devices and software solutions for eye care – and the team at Lake Lazer Eye Center is thrilled to be the first in Michigan to offer this impressive innovation.
What is the Chronos Automated Binocular Refraction System?
Chronos Automated Binocular Refraction System (ABRS) is a state-of-the-art system that combines several diagnostic technologies into a single, all-in-one device. This unit allows your ophthalmologist to perform your vision test quickly on both eyes at once, and with great accuracy.
Chronos combines the functionality of testing technologies to perform several tests at once:
- Binocular autorefraction
- Keratometry measurements
- Binocular subjective testing
- Visual acuity testing chart
Chronos ABRS unites these essential functions in a compact device that occupies less than four feet of space.
How Chronos Works
The fully automated Chronos system is guided by intuitive testing software that helps our practice easily navigate a quick and precise examination. Called SightPilot®, the guided refraction software can be controlled via laptop, desktop or tablet, and easily navigated through simple on-screen prompts. SightPilot™ simplifies the user interface to provide a step-by-step guide through the refraction process. At each step, the operator is given instructions to proceed with the refraction, based on the patient’s response.

It’s important to also note that Chronos Automated Binocular Refraction System is Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant and easy to adjust for patient comfort.
